The Berg Orchestra has announced the winners of their annual NuBerg Composition Competition. Jakub Rataj, for 'Raketon,' won the main prize (see Opus Osm, May 20, 2013); Martin Klusák, for 'In Paradisum,' won the public's prize (see Opus Osm, Feb 25). Both works will be performed at The Berg Orchestra's season opening concert Mar 18 at The Vitkov National Memorial.
Tickets are now on sale for the annual Smetana's Litomyšl music festival which runs from June 13-July 6.
A small exhibit on Czech composer / conductor Otakar Ostrčil runs through Mar 24 at the Czech Museum of Music.
