Advanced ticket sales for the Dvorákova Praha International Music Festival next September have already begun, for the Sept 17, 2016 concert by Anima Eterna Brugge. Gift ticket vouchers are also available, according to Festival officials.
The Czech Museum of Music opens a new exhibit Dec 1 on composer Karel Blažej Kopřiva (1756-1785). An influential part of the Citolibské school of composers, Kopřiva was active during the peak of mature musical culture at the town of Cítoliby near Louny. The exhibit runs through Jan 12.
Jakub Hrůša, permanent guest conductor of The Czech Philharmonic, is the first recipient of the Sir Charles Mackerras Award by the Leoš Janáček Foundation. The prize, named after the late British conductor, is awarded outstanding artists and propagators of Leoš Janáček’s music abroad, according to foundation officials. Mr Hrůša is also chief guest conductor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.
