About Opus Osm
Welcome to Opus Osm, the free-of-charge, paperless monthly magazine about Czech classical music, opera, and ballet. We’re published in Prague, the Czech Republic for an international audience.
Most of our content is in English; some is written in Czech, too, or simplified English; and we also translate some articles and information into other languages. Use the “translate” button in the upper right corner for computer-generated translations in still other languages.
Why ‘Opus Osm’?
Our name comes from the Latin word opus, “creative work,” plus the Czech word osm, “eight” (pronounced “oh some” — almost like “awesome”).
Why “Work Eight”? Because thanks to the awesome capabilities of the internet, we can now create and connect a real community of eight very different types of readers from all over the world — including you. We can chat together, laugh together, teach and learn from each other. We can swap clips and photos of favorite performances. And much more. But no matter how little or how much we already know, we can all enrich ourselves by finding out more about Czech classical music, opera, and ballet.
