Cinderella is just one of the ballet performances included in a package

Christmas Packages

There’s no use denying it. Christmas is coming and it’s just around the corner. Just in case you haven’t finished all your Christmas shopping yet … or if you’re still stuck for a brilliant solution to the eternal question “And what can we give to …(fill in the blank)”… here’s a brilliant suggestion.

Do your shopping at The National Theatre box office (see hours and details below).

This year they’re offering 14 different Christmas gift packages of shows running from February through June, so surely you can find something for everyone on your list.

If your Czech language isn’t fluent enough to keep up with live theatre, don’t worry – only four of the 14 offerings are for theatre-only shows. (Although they do sound intriguing.) The rest are pure opera, all-ballet, or a mixture. All are offered at a wide range of prices.

For Experienced Opera Lovers and Ingenues Alike

The “Night at the Opera” package offers opera-only, like this: Abduction from the Seraglio, Jakobín, Tosca, and Gloriana. For those who hesitate to commit to four operas, you can try the “Opera for Two” series playing this spring – the classics Jakobín and The Marriage of Figaro.

For Dance Fans

If you’re a dance purist, you’ll love the ballet-only package, which just happens to be called “For Ballet Lovers.” Here you can see the eternal Swan Lake and Cinderella, plus classics in the making, Moonshine and Solo for Three. Whether you’re a diehard fan of ballet or not, everyone should take advantage of the opportunity to meet Petr Zuska’s work, in the Gala X package, offering six of the theatre artistic director’s choreographies.

Or Mix It Up

The other package deals offer a lively mix of offerings in ballet, theatre, opera, and even Magic Lantern mixed media shows, specially designed for families, young adults, seniors, and more. — oo
